Was a place I have never been to and probably will rarely go due to the inconvenience of the place but Mum likes it cause it's one of her customer's shop and it's Mother's Day so here we go!
My current favorite perfume which Daddy bought for me :)
The place we went to was The Rail Mall. Blooie's Roadhouse looked interesting there. Anyway this mall is more for the atas people aka expats or rich. :P
This is how it looks like below, not your typical shopping mall.
Here is how it looks like inside:
They sell organic groceries, beauty stuff and other things as well for the household besides food.
The Menu is not exactly cheap but it's good and healthy food. They are not stingy on the portions either as you will see in the next few pictures.
Because it was Mummy's Day, they had a special free appetizer trio for all Mothers. Edamame was yummy. Mum liked the sweet potato.
First dish we ordered was Tahu Goreng
It's a vegetarian cafe so they served their version with a fruity sauce. It was crunchy and the vegetables were fresh.
Dad's main course was Bak Kut Tea with Mee Sua. Lack the peppery kick but was still good comfort food with hot soup, mock meat and vegetables.
He also chose Pumpkin soup which they liked but I felt the spices overshadowed the pumpkin. Think it was mainly oregano.
Mum's main course was a Hakka dish which is Thunder Tea Rice.
The tea was made of peppermint and basil. The domineering flavour is the basil which I recognised from a basil cream based pasta I had before somewhere else. You can choose to pour it into the rice or drink it separately. The traditional way is to mix it with the rice and ingredients. They also had abacus seed which is another traditional Hakka dish but we did not order it today. I like the combination of the vegetables and nuts with brown rice. It was crunchy and hit the right notes. Tried a portion of it mixed as well, wasn't too bad.
Last but not least, she had a chendol to herself which she shared a bit with me. There were jelly, red beans and the traditional green stuff in it but no coconut. It was made healthy with Soya milk instead and was a refreshing dessert. I like it better than the traditional one because I feel that the traditional versions are too heavy (jelak) most of the time.
I look liked shit today so I changed my mind about posting face pictures. Till the next post! Oh and obviously I paid. It was $31 SGD, pretty reasonable for the portions. I didn't order anything as a main and shared everything with them. :) Hope Mummy was happy! Happy Mother's Day and I love you very very much!
